Description

"Introduced in 1971, the Series III E-Type had an all new 5.3 litre, V12 engine, uprated brakes and standard power steering. Optionally, an automatic transmission, wire wheels and air conditioning were available. The brand new V12 engine came with four Zenith carburettors and was claimed to produce 272bhp, more torque, and a 0-60mph acceleration of less than seven seconds, which was phenomenal for the price of the car at that time. It is thought that only 7,990 convertibles and 7,297 fixedhead cars were produced.
This very well presented Series III E-Type is offered in its original colour combination of Signal Red over a black interior. Treated to much renovation work circa 10 years ago the Jaguar has done very little mileage since. Included in the work was an extensive engine rebuild by renowned Jaguar E-Type specialists, WinSpeed of Guildford to a tune of £12,000. Also fitted at this time were new brakes, a new clutch and a Harvey Bailey handling kit which consisted of uprated anti roll bars, springs and dampers. An upgraded stainless steel exhaust system with a six branch manifold to each bank, was also fitted costing in excess of £3,000. Various other works have been completed on this Jaguar and as such it presents in very good order throughout. The paintwork is in excellent condition showing very few minor blemishes as is the engine bay which is in very good order.
Fitted with the original four speed gearbox and matching numbers engine, the vendor states that this E-Type drives very nicely indeed and sounds marvellous when on song. The history file that accompanies this car includes many previous MoT test certificates, the WinSpeed engine rebuild invoice, various other renovation invoices as well as plenty of sundry invoices going back through the years. Also included in the history file is the V5 registration document and the Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirming that this car is a matching numbers example and in its original colour combination. A toolkit, the original radio and a set of steel wheels and tyres are also included in the sale. This is one of the finest Series III E-Types we have seen and with the subtle upgrades fitted it will make for a fantastic car for a new custodian.
