Description

"The E-Type Series III was introduced in 1971, with a new 5.3 litre, V12 engine, uprated brakes and standard power steering. Optionally, an automatic transmission, wire wheels and air conditioning were available. The brand new V12 engine came with four Stromberg carburettors and was claimed to produce 272bhp, more torque, and a 0-60mph acceleration of less than seven seconds, which was brisk for the car at that time, considering its competition in the market place. The short wheelbase fixedhead coupé body style was discontinued, with the Series III available only as a convertible and 2+2 coupé. The newly used longer wheelbase now offered significantly more room in all directions. These models were easily identifiable by the large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches, wider tyres, four exhaust tips and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V12. It is thought that only 7,990 convertibles and 7,297 fixedhead cars were manufactured.
As per the Jaguar Heritage Certificate, this glorious roadster is finished in its original colour combination of Old English White coachwork with Russet Red hide, a black soft top and matching tonneau cover. Manufactured on 26th February 1974, this lefthand drive example benefits from air conditioning and Inertia seat belts. Having undergone significant mechanical work in recent months including removing the rear axle and overhauling the brake system with new discs, calipers and hoses to the front and rear. A new exhaust system has been fitted and a complete set of coolant hoses. Suspension bushes, wishbones and shock absorbers have also been replaced. Sitting proudly on chrome wire wheels, this delightful example of a Jaguar E-Type Series III is ‘on the button’ and ready to go. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a full years MoT test certificate, this roadster is fitted with manual transmission making it a real drivers’ car."
