In 1966, five years after the introduction of the E-Type, Jaguar updated the wildly popular sports car with the launch of the Series 2. Open headlights without glass covers, a wrap-around rear bumper, re-positioned and larger front indicators and taillights below the bumpers, better cooling aided by an enlarged radiator intake and twin electric cooling fans, together with uprated brakes, are all hallmarks of Series 2 cars. Cars destined for America were detuned as a result of having to meet that country''s emission regulations, and, breathing through two Stromberg carburettors, suffered a dramatic drop in power to just 177bhp, European market cars, however, still sported triple SU carburettors and continued to produce the 265bhp of the original E Type.
The engine of the Series 2 cars is easily identified by the change
