Description

"There is little doubt that the advent of Jaguar’s E -Type revolutionised the motoring world and sent the press into raptures, the penmanship that created such exquisite lines was truly gifted. This three-dimensional beauty, however, was complemented by a fabulous double-overhead cam, six-cylinder engine that powered this lithe, taut creature comfortably over the 100mph mark. Jaguar, rightly, were not content to sit upon their laurels however and continue to develop the E-Type with the first substantial improvements arriving in 1964 with a newly enlarged 4.2-litre powerplant increasing torque and improving driveability. Other developments included the introduction of a fully synchronised Moss gearbox and twin SU fuel pumps. The Series ll of 1968 was evolved still further with an improved cooling system and better Girling brakes.
This exquisite example left its home in the US in December 1989. In 2018, it was passed to E-Type specialists, The Jag Shop, where it underwent a comprehensive restoration and has reportedly not been driven since. It was completely stripped down to its component parts and has now, obviously, been converted to righthand drive with triple SU carburettors bringing it up to correct European specification. The bodyshell was taken back to bare metal, resprayed in its original factory British Racing Green and then returned to the Jag Shop workshops for assembly. Needless to say, the tan leather interior, black leather dashboard and wooden steering wheel are beautifully suited to each other and all coordinate perfectly. While the trim was out, a completely new wiring harness was installed including new instrumentation, a new mohair hood, new chrome all round, new glass and body seals fitted throughout. The engine & gearbox has been completely overhauled, now with 9-1 compression ratio, new clutch, water pump, alternator, radiator with exhaust leaving through a new stainless-steel manifold and exhaust system.
Front & rear suspension has been completely rebuilt and set up correctly with all other major suspension components stripped, cleaned, powder-coated/electroplated and then reassembled ready to be fitted back onto the tub and picture frame. In each corner, can be found fully 6.5 x 15 stainless steel spoked wheels shod with brand new tyres, spinners, hubs and bearings. A new steering rack, brake components, fuel lines and fuel tank have also been fitted. In short, an utterly complete and immaculate Jaguar E-Type Roadster that could not be prepared for this price is now available for purchase safe in the knowledge that every detail of this restoration has been completed to the very highest standard."
