The launch of the Jaguar E-Type at the Geneva Motor Show in May 1961 is still an object of legend today, it is said that Norman Dewis, official driver of the Jaguar, piloted the brand new coupé all night from London to Switzerland, to arrive on time for the presentation of the car.
The then aeronautical engineer Malcolm Sayer had recently developed in Jaguar, the original monocoque of the D-Type, which then won the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times, between 1955 and 1957, when he received from Sir William Lyons, Chief supreme of Jaguar, the task of designing a totally new car that combined the most daring aerodynamic, power and elegance.
Thus the first Jaguar E-Type saw the light in 1961, a car of extraordinary beauty, that Enzo Ferrari itself defined the “most beautiful car ever made”.
Launched almost simultaneously with the Coupe, the Spider has a largely reinforced body that, even more than usually happens in this type of conversion, compensates for the lack of the pavilion.
Its 265 horsepower makes it very fast while the long step, ensures stability even in the fast mix. Like other Jaguars of the same era, it mounts a 4-speed Moss manual gearbox with the first one unsynchronized.
The Jaguar E-Type remains the symbol of the 1960s and has never stopped seducing since it was unveiled in 1961. On the collectible car market, it is a point of reference, with prices rising sharply. In 1975, after about 14 years and 70,000 cars, the Jaguar E-Type went out of production, replaced by the Jaguar XJ-S.
This is an absolute rare version, named "Series 1° and 1/2", with the 1st series rear taillight and 2nd series front headlight: more than this, it has the 4.2 liter, 6 cylinder engine of the 2nd series.
This particular version has been produced only in 1967 and 1968. For its refined purity of lines, this car remains among the most fascinating car models of the last century.

This car was born in California, then arrived in Italy in 1999 and purchased by a collector based in Turin who made a conservative restoration over the years. In 2006 this E-Type was sold to a dealer and soon after it was bought by Silvauto. It was then purchased by the last owner who kept it for about 7 years.
