Description
Over the last 13 years, Car-iconics has become synonymous with outstanding Jaguar E-type stock.
However, this E Type represents a ‘first’ for us. We received a call a few weeks ago from a Gentleman and his wife, who bought this car new in 1968. They have cherished it, maintained it, and even had the bodywork and mechanicals restored some 20 years ago by one of the world’s top specialists. Such has been the care for the vehicle, that the interior is completely original, apart from the sill covers, which needed to be removed for the replacement sills during restoration. The carpets, seats, steering wheel, dashboard, dials, center console, and all other fabrics remain original to the car.
There is a full photographic record of the restoration too.
Accompanying the car is the original hard top, roll-up toolkit which is complete, the original jack and roof slip, a full book pack containing the owner’s manuals, original service policy document which is in the owner’s name, instructions on how to use the seat belts, oil filter renewal info sheet, installation instructions for the key operated lockable aerial, E Type wall poster and even some 1970’s fuel ration coupons!
The car is a home market example, with matching numbers throughout, and remains in its original colour combination.
Today, the car still presents in freshly-restored condition having been driven 15 miles every other week since restoration and only in dry weather.
A better E type, we are yet to see.
