Description

- A magnificent early Left-Hand Drive ‘4.2’
- Very desirable and original rare color combination
- Benefits from 5 speed Getrag gearbox upgrade
- A very fine example of this classic and increasingly desirable and collectible Jaguar E-Type

There have been volumes written about the Jaguar E-Type, indeed there is no other British car, apart from perhaps the Mini, that has generated such a cult following.

The Jaguar E-Type is a British automobile legend, it was manufactured by Jaguar between 1961 and 1975.

It combined sensational looks, high performance and competitive pricing that instantly captured the imagination of the British public at the time and it has remained a truly iconic piece of British motoring history since.

It was voted “the most beautiful car of all time” by the Daily Telegraph.

Sports Car International Magazine placed the E Type at number one on their list of Top Sports Cars of the decade.

On the cars public release in 1961, Enzo Ferrari called it “The most beautiful car ever made”.

Of all the many E-Type variants, it is the ‘Series 1’ 4.2-litre Roadster that many enthusiasts consider the most desirable, combining as it does the purity of the original concept with the superior performance of the larger engine.

The 4.2-litre version of Jaguar’s sensational E-Type was launched in October 1964, a more user-friendly all-synchromesh gearbox and superior Lockheed brake servo forming part of the improved specification together with the bigger, torquier engine.

Apart from ‘4.2’ badging, the car’s external appearance was unchanged but under the skin there were numerous detail improvements.

These mainly concerned the cooling and electrical systems, the latter gaining an alternator and adopting the industry standard negative ground, while the interior boasted a matt black dashboard and improved seating arrangements.
The top speed of around 150mph for the 3.8 liter engine remained unchanged, the main performance gain resulting from the larger engine being improved acceleration and flexibility.

The E-type is an absolute icon but amongst the beautiful lines it’s also 1 of the best driving classic cars. The car is very fast and handles absolutely superb.

ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC EXAMPLE

This Jaguar E-type is newly delivered in the color scheme which is still on the car, black with a beautiful dark red interior.

The Jaguar was distributed via Jaguar Cars in New York and was delivered at the 11th. Of January 1967.

The Jaguar arrived in 2016 in Holland and was at the time red. The car underwent an impressive body and interior restoration.

We personally like this car very much because of the fact that the body is extremely original. Many E-types have undergone large body restorations because of bad condition bodies but on this car one can easily recognize the original welding points as well as the original floor panels at the driver and passenger seat. Even the spare wheel box is still original and in a superb condition.

Above details are very rare with an E-type and make the car even more desirable.

CONDITION EXTERIOR

This black Jaguar E-type presents very beautifully. The paint which is recently done shows beautifully and has a very nice and deep shine.
The paint can be best described as in very nice drivers level standard.

The chrome on the car is in original and very nice condition. Not over the top restored but with a beautiful patina.

Very light polish scratches can be found which have appeared over the years.

The original windows are still in the car which we personally like as well.

This is a car with a beautiful appearance but a car which has not been made nicer then new.
The car shows a beautiful patina and has the charm of a classic car.
Imagine that the first owner who collected this car in 1967 at the dealer looked thru the same window as the future custodian who will collect the car from our showroom.
The history has to continue!

CONDITION INTERIOR
The interior of the Jaguar is excellent, having been thoroughly restored.
The upholstery, carpets, headliner, and dashboard are all in a perfect condition.

Nearly every aspect of the interior was redone, including the dashboard and center console. The headliner was replaced with a new correct wool one and the load space was included in the restoration and presents essentially as new.

The restoration has been carried out by a specialist resulting in the use of the period correct materials but also in the correct specification. Please compare some seats of restored E-types and you will see that many seats are wrong restored. This car is correct.

The beautiful Red leather interior suits the outside original colour of Black very nice.

It seems that he car has almost not been used since the restoration as one can find no signs of wearing.

All meters, gauges, switches, choke and lights are in good working condition.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT / UNDERNEATH
The engine and engine bay look excellent, very clean without big signs of age or use.
Underneath the car looks equally nice and one can clearly see that attention has been given to detailing and restoration of the undercarriage.

DRIVING EXPERIENCE
It is not strange that driving this icon is very special. Still now, the driving capabilities of this Jaguar E-type are very special. It is not a difficult car to drive but it needs good handling because of the power in the car. The car is very solid at speed, runs wonderfully, and maintains excellent temperatures.
