Description

Chassis No. 1E 14064

Engine No. 7E 10052-9

Body No. 4E-5016

Jaguar's slinky, feline E-Type was gradually improved over its run, with later Series I models gaining the larger and more potent 4.2-litre engine with triple SU carburetors. These cars masterfully combined the early E-Type styling with greater performance, and are much sought-after by enthusiasts today.

The Roadster offered here is accompanied by a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, noting that it was originally completed in special-ordered Valentine Blue with black interior and top on November 21, 1966. It was then retailed through Jaguar Cars New York to original owner Adolfe P. Macedo of San Jose, California. Later it underwent a restoration for Dr. Walter Padow of Plantation, Florida, in whose ownership the car won AACA Junior and Senior First Prizes, and received an Amelia Award at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance.

Finished in Opalescent Blue with dark blue leather interior and top boot, the E-Type retains its original numbers-matching engine, both block and cylinder head; the original chassis number stamping is still present on the subframe, and the chassis number tag is believed to be original. The interior features all correct instruments, as well as a period-correct Becker Europa radio and Wilton carpeting, while a spare wheel with matching period-correct Avon bias-ply tire is still in the trunk. The overall appearance is highly authentic, down to the finish of the paint inside the headlights, with an accessory grille guard but no side-view mirror providing an attractive, clean look. The car recorded 76,524 miles at the time of cataloging and exhibits a light patina some twenty years after its restoration.

Every collection requires an E-Type, one of the most beautiful and exciting sports cars ever produced, with this being an ideal example.
