Description

A very early roadster in simply splendid condition, after having been treated to the expertise to our friends at CMC

Originally supplied to Peter Lindner, official Jaguar dealership in Frankfurt she left the factory in September 1962 and was first registered on the 4th October the next month in Germany, for a Lt N W Cunningham, a US serviceman then stationed in Germany

Obviously he took her back home with him after his time in Germany and there the trail goes cold until this dazzling Jaguar was re-imported back here in the UK in 1999

A restoration was completed by Swallow Engineering, with photographic evidence of the works, including the steering having been converted to RHD at that time

There is good evidence of the cars life hereafter in England with letters from previous owners, invoices for many thousands of pounds in routine maintenance and also purchase invoices for the last 2 owners too

Finished in the original colours of Carmen Red with a black hood, although the original blue interior had, at that time, had been finished in black

The original moss gearbox is still with the car as is the early fascia panel and centre console - the original engine number R 7625-8 had at some point been swopped with S 8640-8, another 3.8 litre unit to the same specification

The most recent owner came to me through a mutual journalist friend, and he had bought her in 2016, at which point, although the car was more than usable, he decided let CMC lose on her

After £160.000 of restoration works, what we now have is one of the very best early 3.8 litre roadsters available anywhere

The pictures, nearly, show the quality of the works undertaken, although a personal inspection will more than substantiate the value of the expenditure

The correspondence between CMC and the owner is very detailed, there is also a USB stick with over 300 images to help too

In essence, one of the very best E Type's we have ever had the pleasure of offering for sale
