The XK120 did so well on the race track and in rallies that it was developed in 1951 into the C-Type for competition. With an uprated XK engine, lightweight tubular chassis (which cost far more to make than the basic car’s twin girder design) and more aerodynamic alloy body, the C-Type promptly won the world’s greatest sports car race at Le Mans and, when fitted with revolutionary new disc brakes, went on to win again in 1953.
It was inevitable that with just 53 C-Types being manufactured there would be an enormous shortfall in the demand for such cars. Consequently this immortal design has been the subject of a myriad of attempts to copy it and this is just one such example.
