Description

Registration number: 81-01-HD

The Jaguar MK2 remains a favourite among many Jaguar enthusiasts. With its stunning 3.8-litre engine, four doors, and ample space and comfort for both driver and passengers, it offers a fantastic combination of brisk performance, spaciousness, beauty, and elegance. In September 1967, Jaguar introduced the 240 and 340 models, equipped with the 2.4-litre and 3.4-litre engines. At first glance, it can be quite challenging to distinguish the MK2 from its younger siblings. One notable difference is that leather upholstery became optional, with Jaguar opting for Ambla upholstery. Upon closer inspection, you'll notice narrower bumpers. The 240 received a more powerful version of the XK six-cylinder engine. This resulted in a significant improvement in performance; the top speed increased from 96 to 106 mph, and acceleration figures were greatly enhanced.

Although ultimately not as fast as its larger siblings with more powerful engines, the 240 retains all the style and refinement associated with Jaguar’s iconic model. The 240 is also more than capable of cruising comfortably on modern highways, making it a true all-rounder.

However, this information does not really matter with our Jaguar, as this 240 has been modified with the desirable 3.8-litre engine. Additionally, it is a very attractive car with Maroon paint and beige leather upholstery, a delightful manual gearbox, and a period-correct electric sunroof. Truly, this car is a beauty with fantastic specifications!

In the past, this 240 has undergone restoration and refurbishment. The exterior of this Jaguar presents itself beautifully. The Maroon paint has a lovely shine and is generally in excellent condition. The chrome parts, such as the grille, bumpers, and trim, look great, and this 240 features stunning wire wheels in good condition with the correct tires. The various body panels have nice and good fits. The beautiful sunroof immediately catches the eye and adds an extra touch of elegance.

The interior features high-quality leather upholstery, and the overall condition is very good. The beautiful steering wheel looks immaculate, the dashboard is very attractive, and all the control buttons are in their proper place, making this a correct example. The carpets are also lovely. The Smiths gauges are equally impressive.

When we open the bonnet, we find the desirable 3.8-litre engine. It is a powerhouse. With plenty of power available, this Jaguar drives as expected. With 220 hp onboard, that’s no surprise. The six-cylinder engine has a tremendous amount of torque and accelerates effortlessly to high speeds. The gearbox shifts smoothly, and both the clutch pedal and brake pedal feel great.
