The Iso Rivolta IR 300 offered for sale here is in a great original condition. It was built in 1966 and registered to its first owner in France about two years later. In 2007 it was sold to Belgium, where the current owner acquired it in 2015.

Over the years the vehicle has been well maintained and cared for. However, it was never fully restored, but repaired when necessary. The paintwork was renewed in the past in the original color and still makes a good impression today.

Technically everything works flawlessly, the solid engine has a smooth power delivery and the gearbox shifts cleanly too. The steering is comparatively direct and the condition of the chassis is also convincing.

Unlike comparable vehicles of the time, the Iso Rivolta is very easy to handle. Even without power steering you can manoeuvre it well, the engine has enough torque in every situation and goes forward reasonably if you have the right ambitions.

A really good Gran Turismo, which also masters longer distances comparatively comfortably and doesn't let you down thanks to its reliable technology.

History of the series

Giorgetto Giugiaro (Bertone) designed an attractive 2+2 coupé for Iso Rivolta with classic proportions and an impressive radiator grille. Large windows make for a bright cabin, and the interior has Italian flair with leather, wood and beautifully designed Veglia instruments.

The partially self-supporting sheet steel body was manufactured by Bertone. It was mounted on a solid steel box frame, developed by Giotto Bizzarrini and Pierluigi Raggi.

At the front, the wheels are individually suspended by linkages of uneven length with a sway bar, while at the rear a “De Dion” construction ensures wheel control. Four disc brakes decelerate the power of the 5. 3 litre Corvette engine, which accelerates the Coupé up to 210 km/h. The four gears are engaged by a fully synchronized Borg-Warner transmission that sends power to the two rear wheels.

The IR 300 had drawn a hard lot in its time, because in its price range (after all over 40,000 DM in 1965) it competed with Ferrari, Maserati and Aston Martin. In addition, there was the in-house competition by the sportier Iso Grifo, which finally led to the fact that only 792 Iso Rivolta Coupés left the halls in Bresso, Italy.
