When the Invicta S-Type was unveiled at the 1930 Olympia Motor Show it caused a sensation. It was the lowest, sleekest car in the world. By the time the S-Type had won the 1931 Monte Carlo Rally (it also finished second the following year), had returned clean sheets in the 1931 and 1932 International Alpine Trials and performed with distinction on tight and twisty hill climbs like Shelsley Walsh and Prescott, the model had established itself as not only one of the most stylish sports cars of the era but also one of the most competitive.
