Description

1934 Invicta 12/45 Tourer
Chassis no. L239

Records held by the Invicta Car Club show that chassis number 'L239' was originally a saloon first registered in the UK in January 1934 as 'AXE 750'. The car's early history is not known, but from 1958 to 1968 a Mr Standing was its owner. Mr Standing sold the car to a Mr Bentley, and by 1980 'L239' had been reduced to a rolling chassis belonging to one B M Barton in Nottingham. In 1985, Terry Heard of Malmesbury, Wiltshire acquired the Invicta and rebuilt it with a new open tourer body made by Vintage Friction of Bristol. The saloon wings and running boards were retained and the louvered valences constructed. At the same time, the engine was rebuilt by Rendall Hour Time, engineers well known in VSCC circles. This Invicta is known to have competed at Enstone and other venues, and has toured France. By 1997, it was in the stewardship of the late Roger Lees of Poole, Dorset, and subsequently was acquired by the previous owner. The current vendor has owned the car since 2016. Now offered with Swiss registration papers and EU taxes paid, this rare Invicta sports car is eminently suitable for VSCC and similar events.

Châssis no. L239
