Description

Estimate: £7,000 - £10,000
Registration Number: LXH 814
Chassis Number: B1815

The Westland Roadster was Healey’s first production car, and although it was capable of great things in competition it wasn’t ideal as a road car. It might have enjoyed the benefits of a stiff box section chassis, all-round coils and the Riley engine helped it to a 105mph top speed but it lacked creature comforts. The Abbott drophead coupé was introduced to put that right with sharper style, a more compliant ride and lower gearing to improve tractability. Only 77 of these were built by E.D Abbott Ltd. and it was a more accomplished all-rounder with a 2,443cc engine under the bonnet and with the hood down the car had plenty of space for 2 rear passengers.

This particular example was first registered on 1st January 1951 and was purchased by the vendor’s father on 28th August 1974. The car is supplied with a V5 document and buff log book along with a Riley workbook.

Largely complete, the car has been off the
