In 1963 S&S Welding, which consisted of Ernie Solberg and Scott Beckett, built 3 race cars with a Holman Moody 427cu V8 and Colotti Type 50 transaxle. These cars were based on the best features of the Genie Mk8 and used a Genie Mk8 body.
This car was raced from 1963 through 1967 in many events including the June Sprints at Road America (Elkhart Lake) and the United States Road Racing Championship (USRRC).
The original paint colour was maroon metallic, although it was later painted Shelby Blue. The car features the well-proven suspension set up of unequal length wishbones with a sway bar at the front, at the rear there are twin trailing arms with a single top link and inverted wishbones connected to a sway bar. The car sits on Koni shock absorbers with coil-over springs.
