Occasionally it looks as if car manufacturers make questionable decisions on purpose. They peak to soon. The Ford Thunderbird series has known no less than 11 incarnations dating from 1955 to 2005 and this one is best looking of the bunch. The second generation Ford Thunderbird was nicknamed the Square Bird on account of its square roof. This example is a 1958 model and a real survivor. This car is in exceptional condition thanks to lifelong cherished care. Until 1996 the car lived in the warm Texan climate before being sold to someone in Finland. You cannot imagine a bigger contrast. Luckily the Bird was kept in a heated garage, thereby preserving the car in a wonderful original state. Amazingly the car still has fully retained its first coat of paint. The bodywork and paintwork are naturally showing some signs of the passage of time. Furthermore the rest of the car is also wonderfully complete and in truly unique shape.

The interior is similarly completely original and still looks a treat. The upholstery and carpets look great and reflect the car’s age beautifully. The dashboard is awash with lovely instruments and switching gear, all in good working order.

Turning to the mechanical side of things we have a 5.7 litre V8 transferring its power through a delightfully smooth 3-speed automatic, both working perfectly in unison. The first generation T-Bird had to compete with the Chevrolet’s C1 Corvette. With the arrival of the second generation T-Bird Ford decided to concentrate on the element of personal luxury and now offered a 4-person car. This resulted in a stunning large coupé propelled by its 300 hp V8. Things does not come any more American. This is the embodiment of freedom. The car comes with invoices relating to its American sojourn as well as paperwork about its move from the USA to Europe.

In short we have a glorious and especially original second generation Ford Thunderbird in a condition you will never see the like of again.
