Description
Very collectible 1931 Ford Model A Convertible Sedan.
Nicely restored condition.
Part of the FM Collection.
Offered with No Reserve.
Introduced in May 1931 and offered for just one year only, the Model Convertible Sedan was a cross between a Victoria Coupe and a Deluxe Phaeton and is arguably the most collectible factory body style catalogued by Ford today. Produced by coachbuilder Murray, the Convertible Sedan (style 400-A) came with cowl lamps, a fabric top, deluxe upholstery and woodgrain trim and just 4,864 were made in total, a fraction of total Model A production. Very few of these desirable and highly collectible Model A Convertible Sedans have made their way to Australia over the years and they rarely come on the open market.
We understand the Late Owner personally imported the car from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2002 at a total cost in excess of $65,000, the paperwork supplied with the car identifying the seller as Terence Young II and there is a good folder of documents relating to the importation (including the original import papers). The Model A presents as an older restoration and is still in left-hand drive configuration. There is a Ford plate on the firewall (unfortunately illegible due to age) but no body number tag where it should be on the firewall. The Ford has a number of accessories fitted including a Flying Goose radiator mascot, fog lamps, heater, dual side mounts, front and rear bumpers and a folding luggage rack. The carpets were damaged by rodents during an extended period of storage and need to be replaced and a stone guard is also included. Needing some mechanical and cosmetic recommissioning after standing for some time, the Ford will be sold unregistered and with No Reserve.
