With Ferrari in its sights after a failed takeover bid, the Ford Motor Company, under Henry Ford II, assembled the world’s best drivers and car-builders in an effort to dominate global long-distance sports car racing in the mid-1960s. The resulting GT40 program would propel Ford to victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966 in a stunning one-two-three finish. They would win the race again in 1967, 1968, and 1969—in total, an incredible four consecutive years.

Fast forward nearly 50 years from their first win at Le Mans to the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, where Ford once again stunned gathered media and enthusiasts across the world with the all-new Ford GT. The rakish supercar featured a carbon fiber monocoque chassis following the mid-engined formula with a 647-horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve EcoBoost V-6 engine, paired this time with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission supplied by Getrag. Early performance figures pegged the car as capable of achieving 60 mph in 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 216 mph. Street car production began in December 2016, but fittingly, the Ford GT made its debut well before that on the track with its highly anticipated return to Le Mans in June of that year; there, Ford achieved an extraordinary LMGTE Pro class victory while taking three out of the top four places in class on the 50th anniversary of their 1966 one-two-three finish.

SERIAL NUMBER K109

This 2019 Ford GT left the factory uniquely finished in stunning Ingot Silver with Comp Orange stripes and was delivered new to Kunes Country Ford of Delavan, Wisconsin. The “Launch Control” interior is highlighted by a pair of ebony and orange leather-wrapped carbon fiber seats accented by carbon fiber trim, with matching appointments to the dashboard, instrument panel, and console. The interior is further optioned with a leather-wrapped F1-style steering wheel.

In addition to the standard GT features and the $30,000 400A Equipment Group option, this particular chassis was further specified from the factory with Competition Orange overtop stripes, exterior carbon fiber gloss package, orange brake calipers complementing the Brembo carbon ceramic disc brakes, a set of 20-inch gloss exposed carbon fiber 10-spoke wheels complete with titanium lug nuts, a Ford GT outdoor cover in blue, and a Ford GT indoor cover in black. In total, these options added $76,995 to this GT’s window sticker.

Today, this Ford GT has accumulated “delivery miles” only with just 21.3 miles displayed on the odometer at time of cataloguing. The car is accompanied by its numbered Ford GT Design Spec kit, original window sticker, Ford Performance GT battery tender, and optional Ford GT indoor and outdoor car covers each with their own storage bag.

With its blistering performance, spectacular aerodynamic design, cutting-edge technology, and proven Le Mans-winning pedigree, the new Ford GT is the perfect addition to any Blue Oval or high-end sports car collection—and a supercar that will be celebrated for years to come.
