Description
Chassis No. 1FAFP90S66Y400060
Born during a wave of fresh thinking, rebirth, and retro-inspired nostalgia, the Ford GT was first shown as the GT40 concept in 2002 at the North American International Auto Show with not only a similar nameplate, but styling that paid tribute to the company's original GT40 race car of four decades prior. Following instant acclaim and significant interest, production quickly began by the end of 2004 when each car started life in Ohio before final completion took place at Ford's own Special Vehicle Team (SVT) facility in Michigan. As a fully modern, state-of-the-art supercar designed to compete against Europe's best, the GT utilized a 21st century design with aluminum composite body panels, bonded floor panels, and a one-piece carbon fiber rear clamshell over a longitudinal, rear-mounted supercharged V8.
Designed to compete with Ferrari both on and off the track, the Ford GT offered exceptional performance figures thanks to a monstrous 5.4-liter V8 assisted by an Eaton supercharger to produce 550 horsepower. Paired with a Ricardo six-speed manual transmission, the GT offered a top speed of 204 miles per hour and zero to sixty in just 3.4 seconds. Not only fast in a straight line, Ford also equipped double-wishbone suspension and Brembo brakes, which made the GT remarkably fast on both the street and track. The new GT was an extraordinary driving machine and is still considered one of the best supercars ever produced; it was, in Ford's language, "The Pace Car for an Entire Company."
This 2006 model was ordered in Midnight Blue Metallic with all four available factory options: over-the-top White racing stripes, lightweight forged aluminum BBS wheels, Red painted brake calipers, and a McIntosh digital sound system. The clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report reveals long-term Southern California ownership and servicing at official Ford dealerships. In 2009 it joined the Bill and Linda Feldhorn Collection as a representee of the United States among an exceptional collection of international sports cars. Records on file and available for review show servicing by the Feldhorns at Kemp Ford in Thousand Oaks at approximately 1,332 miles in March 2011 and DCH Ford in 2017 at 2,026 miles and 2018 with 2,050 miles. At the time of cataloging, it had accumulated only 2,091 miles and remains in impressive original overall condition throughout – even featuring its original tires! Accompanied by an owner's manual set, air compressor, and towing eye this Ford GT is an excellent collectible example that yearns to be driven and surely every bit as exciting as when it was new.
