This car comes from a major collection devoted to competition and roadgoing Group A and Group B cars. Based in southern France, its owner has always sought to find cars in excellent original condition, as is the case with this rare Escort RS Cosworth. Showing only 46,493 km from new, it comes with a file of invoices testifying to its regular maintenance since 2005, along with its safety inspection certificates. The original paintwork is superb, just like the interior and upholstery.
It should be noted that Ford developed this model in order to homologate it in Group A. Its body was characterised by its wider wings and front spoiler, but above all by its huge rear spoiler extending out from the roof in spectacular fashion. The differences compared with the standard version were so great that the body was built by Karmann. These aerodynamic features were naturally accompanied by technical changes: the four-cylinder turbocharged twin-cam engine developed 224 bhp in standard trim and the car had four-wheel drive.
Brilliant and sought-after, the Escort RS Cosworth is a rare car, of which only 7145 were produced. It is rarer still in the exceptional condition of the car offered here.
