Unique Ford Quadricycle replica. Only 3 examples were ever produced between 1896 and 1901. This was the very first car developed and produced by Fords’ founding father Henry Ford. The 2-cylinder car was fitted with 2 gears. The engine produced 4 Hp and the wheels were chain driven. The second example followed in 1899, the third and last in 1901. The name refers to the bicycle wheels used. Of the original three cars only one remains and is now on show at the Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. This particular example was built by a retired Dutch machine builder and thoroughbred Ford enthusiast. It took him two years to complete. All stages have been photographed. This Quadricycle is naturally in good working order and drives as well. This is a unique piece of technical achievement and automotive history. It is after all how it all began. It is eminently suitable for use at old-timer events, as a promotion prop or unique display model.
