You buy some cars with your head. Not this one.

This Fiat Panda 4×4 Sisley We bought it purely with our hearts. In September 2024, we found it in Italy, with a collector. For us, it was a piece of nostalgia – we once worked at an Alfa Romeo / Fiat dealer, and this Panda brought that feeling back in an instant.

As is the case with cars like this: you search for a long time. Because finding a Panda 4x4 is difficult enough, but an original Sisley in this condition… that really is like finding a needle in a haystack. When we finally found it, we were faced with just one practical problem: we were traveling by plane. And no matter how compact the Panda is, it just barely didn't fit as carry-on luggage.

Fortunately, help came from an unexpected source. An employee of specialist Tachyon from Eemnes, with a soft spot for Panda 4x4s and involved in rally and off-road projects, offered to drive the car to the Netherlands for us. Two days later, it was at our doorstep. Sometimes everything just has to be right, and it was a great test drive right away.

Since then, we have thoroughly enjoyed this special sight. For special it is. Not only to look at – wherever you drive, people look, laugh, and give a thumbs up – but also to drive.

The condition of the car is exceptionally beautiful. The paintwork looks neat, the interior is well-maintained and original, and everything has been thoroughly checked technically by Italian car specialist Valk from RijssenThe engine runs smoothly, the 5-speed gearbox shifts exactly as it should, and everything feels light and playful. But where this Panda really surprises you is as soon as you engage the 4x4. With a simple lever, you transform it from a charming classic into a small all-rounder. Mud, sand, or snow – where larger off-road vehicles struggle, this lightweight Panda drives through it with the greatest ease. It is not without reason that you still see them in abundance in Italian mountain villages, where they are used day in and day out. That is precisely what makes this car so special. Most Panda 4x4s have had a hard life, and it shows. Not this one. This is a rare, beautiful, and well-preserved example.

We aren't selling it because we have to, but simply because it isn't used enough and is currently getting in the way a bit. And a car like this deserves to be driven and appreciated. That's why we hope it ends up with someone who likes it just as much as we do.

Deze Fiat Panda 4×4 Sisley kochten wij puur met ons hart. In september 2024 vonden we hem in Italië, bij een verzamelaar. Voor ons was het een stukje nostalgie – ooit werkten wij bij een Alfa Romeo / Fiat dealer, en deze Panda bracht dat gevoel in één klap terug.

Zoals dat gaat met dit soort auto’s: je zoekt er lang naar. Want een Panda 4×4 vinden is al lastig, maar een originele Sisley in deze staat… dat is echt een speld in een hooiberg. Toen we hem eindelijk gevonden hadden, stonden we alleen nog voor een praktisch probleem: wij waren met het vliegtuig. En hoe compact de Panda ook is, als handbagage paste hij nét niet.

Gelukkig kwam er hulp uit onverwachte hoek. Een medewerker van specialist Tachyon uit Eemnes, met een zwak voor Panda 4×4’s en betrokken bij rally- en offroadprojecten, bood aan om de auto voor ons naar Nederland te rijden. Twee dagen later stond hij voor de deur. Soms moet alles gewoon even kloppen, en het was meteen een mooie testrit.

Sindsdien hebben we volop genoten van deze bijzondere verschijning. Want bijzonder is hij. Niet alleen om te zien – waar je ook rijdt, mensen kijken, lachen en steken hun duim op – maar ook om te rijden.

De staat van de auto is uitzonderlijk mooi. De lak ziet er netjes uit, het interieur is verzorgd en origineel, en technisch is alles goed nagekeken door Italiaanse auto specialist Valk uit Rijssen. De motor loopt vlot, de 5-bak schakelt precies zoals het hoort, en alles voelt licht en speels. Maar waar deze Panda je echt verrast, is zodra je de 4×4 inschakelt. Met een simpele hendel verander je hem van een charmante klassieker in een kleine alleskunner. Modder, zand of sneeuw – waar grotere terreinwagens moeite krijgen, rijdt deze lichte Panda er met het grootste gemak doorheen. Niet voor niets zie je ze nog volop in Italiaanse bergdorpen, waar ze dag in dag uit worden gebruikt. Juist dat maakt deze auto zo bijzonder. De meeste Panda 4×4’s hebben een zwaar leven gehad en dat zie je. Deze niet. Dit is een zeldzaam mooi en goed bewaard exemplaar.

We verkopen hem niet omdat het moet, maar omdat hij simpelweg te weinig gebruikt wordt en nu een beetje in de weg staat. En zo’n auto verdient het om gereden en gewaardeerd te worden. Daarom hopen we dat hij terechtkomt bij iemand die hem net zo leuk vindt als wij.
