Description
GENERAL
Introduced in 1957, the Fiat 500 Nuova initially featured a 479 cc two cylinder engine.
Three years later, Fiat decided to align its standard “Cinquecento” engine with the one coming from its Sport models, upgrading it to 499 cc.
This upgrade produced an additional 4 hp and would be standard until the end of the L-series in 1973.
This Italian 1964 Fiat 500 D is presented in an azureish white paint work over a red fabric interior, finished with beige leatherette accents.
It is one of the rarer versions of the 500 D with a roof that folds back all the way to the rear of the vehicle just like its predecessor, the 500 Nuova.
The 500 D is also one of just three models featuring “suicide doors”.
Offered here is a very clean example from the home country, with some less common features that truly set it apart from the other Cinquencenti.
EXTERIOR
The current paint job, although well executed, isn’t this Fiat’s first. The chrome looks neat, and so do the trims, glass and soft top.
INTERIOR
The interior sports a azureish white fabric and beige leatherette finish in a minty condition. The rubber carpet is also in excellent condition. The odometer indicates 93262 km.
All the original instruments are still there and in great working condition.
ENGINE
This Fiat 500 starts, drives, and shifts without problem. The car was used regularly until shipped to Belgium. The dates of the last service and oil change are unknown.
BODY
The 500’s chassis looks clean.
