Carlo Abarth needs no introduction, this Austrian born engineer who transferred to Italy early in his career was the absolute master in the construction of FIAT derived racing cars. The victories of his cars are measured in the hundreds and his small capacity cars often out powered the big Ferrari sports prototypes hence the nickname: Giant killer. The largest production series were based around the FIAT 600 and 500 production sedans . They were sent to Abarth for their rework and subsequently sold as FIAT Abarths. Cars could be ordered for road use or strictly for racing. Some standard FIAT 600 were converted with an Abarth Cassetta which was a kit of parts supplied by Abarth to make the conversion to a 850TC, with a power output of some 57 bhp, enough for spritely performance as the car we
