The FIAT 500 My Car is a special version developed by the body shop Francis Lombardi, between '68 and '71, the only one special customization to have a good commercial success.
It was produced in two versions: with hard top or with sunroof.
The incomplete cars arrived at the Vercelli body shop from FIAT, to be finished with the Francis Lombardi parts. This was a normal thing at the time, used by Abarth for some years already, for the assembly of its own racing FIAT 500.
The 500 My Car boasted eye-catching features, some of which were: a new dashboard covered in black plastic, wooden steering wheel and gear knob, openable rear windows, stainless steel sill panels, rounded chromed front grille, steel wheel cover.
The most innovative element of this car is the design of the roof which, with two transverse lines and a small spoiler, conferred an image of sportiness and refinement and at the same time improved its habitability. The metallic paint was a luxury optional offered as well.
Despite the higher price than the base model, the FIAT 500 My Car was produced in a few thousand car. The reason for its commercial success was given by the delivery times, far lower than the normal ones of the time and the better habitability guaranteed by the original shape of the roof.
