Description

This Fiat 500 mod. ‘F’ belonged to only one family. It was bought new by the husband of Mrs Lidia (that’s the name of the lady who gave me the car to restore), after winning the public exam in the Carabinieri in 1968. Five years ago, Mrs Lidia was widowed and kept in her garage this 500 F, to which her husband was very devoted. Having to move in with her daughter in another city, she decided to contact me to sell it. When I went to the garage, I found the car stored under some blankets and immediately noticed that the condition of the sheet metal was good. The car had been parked there for over five years, obviously with a dead battery, old petrol and tyres crushed by the weight of the car. I didn’t even try to start it, I just loaded it straight onto the tow truck to take it to the workshop. I brought the engine down for a complete overhaul and replacement of all the necessary parts (the complete list is shown in the invoices, available upon request). I then took the car to the body shop to work on metal sheet and paint. Originally, the colour of the car was white, but coral red was chosen for the paintwork during the restoration, to match the new beige interior with creamy white half-moon design. I must say that the combination really looks very good. The entire electrical system was overhauled; the front headlights, running lights, taillights and all chrome parts including the front and rear bumpers and hubcaps were replaced. Tyres were replaced with new whitewall tyres of the time. The characteristic rubber floor covering of the F model was also replaced with a new one, on which a faithful reproduction of the ‘ochre’ coloured rubber floor mats of the time was placed. The car comes with its original owner’s manual, jack, and original, complete toolbox. Inspection (TUV) will be carried out before delivery. It can be viewed/picked up in Messina, Italy. We can arrange shipping throughout Italy and Europe, upon agreement with the buyer. Any costs for transport, transfer of ownership, or deregistration for export shall be borne by the buyer. It is advisable to view the vehicle before bidding, in order to avoid any later disappointment. For an appointment, please contact Catawiki. This Classic Car is for sale on Catawiki.
