Unfairly overlooked, the Fiat 2300 S nevertheless offers many qualities, starting with an elegant 2+2 shape designed at Ghia. Moreover, it is powered by a 6-cylinder engine designed by Aurelio Lampredi, former Ferrari engineer, and improved upon in this "S" version by Abarth with an intake with two Weber carburettors. Finally, its layout is worthy of the status claimed, that of one of the fastest GTs of the 1960s. With nearly 150bhp, it could exceed 190 km/h and was therefore quicker than a Lancia Flaminia or a Porsche 912.
As its Fiat France import plate indicates, the car we offer was delivered new in France. It was restored by an important Monaco-based collector, who had the good taste to keep the original interior: the black upholstery is impeccable, as are the door panels and the dashboard in wood and sheet metal. The bodywork is in good condition, and the chrome elegantly enhances the white paint of this sober design. A major overhaul was carried out, during which carburetion, ignition and braking were the focus of attention. With chic performance, this car combines the exclusivity of an underrated model.
