Description
Registration number: AH-70-58
We have seen quite a few Fiat 124 Spiders come through since 1975, but we can assure you that this is a very cool and beautiful example. It's evident in every aspect. The last owner of this 124 Spider had the car in his possession for no less than 23 years and took very good care of it. With the desirable BS1 version featuring a fast engine and extensive documentation, this is the 124 Sport Spider you want to have.
*Previously restored and overhauled, in very good and beautiful condition*
The exterior is very sleek, and the paint has a lovely shine. The alignment of the various body panels is really good, and the Cromodora wheels are in beautiful condition. Inside, we find particularly nice carpets and upholstery in fantastic condition. Just look at the photos to see how beautiful all the details still are! The Veglia instruments are in perfect condition with clear gauges. Also, take a look at the door sills—everything looks neat. With the 1,600-cc engine and a weight of approximately 900 kg, the words fantastic, nimble, great, and fun quickly come to mind. It's simply a delight to drive. The engine runs neatly, shifts precisely, and the clutch pedal feels good. This Spider steers tightly, and the road handling is really good.
*Excellently maintained, with extensive invoices available*
With this Spider, we provide extensive documentation, including multiple invoices that give an excellent overview of the maintenance over the past years. It goes without saying that this example has been cared for and maintained down to the last detail, and all the invoices provide a clear picture of that.
*Did you know...?*
Did you know that the design of the Fiat 124 Spider was originally intended for the Chevrolet Corvette, but General Motors rejected the design due to too many European influences in the styling? After the introduction of the popular Fiat 124 with four doors, a 1,200-cc engine, and a four-speed gearbox, it quickly became clear that the Fiat 124 also needed to come as a convertible and coupe.
Fortunately, Fiat understood that a coupe and convertible needed a sporty engine, and that's exactly what happened! With an ultra-modern four-cylinder engine with overhead camshaft, designed by the famous Ferrari engineer Aurelio Lampredi, and a five-speed gearbox, the Spider was launched in 1966, initially with a 1,438-cc engine producing 90 hp. Shortly thereafter, in 1969, the second series appeared, designated as BS, and in 1970, this Fiat received a 1,608-cc engine directly from the Fiat 125. This engine was so much larger that Fiat's engineers added two bulges on the hood, known as 'power domes,' and from that moment on, the Fiat was equipped with an amazing engine with dual Weber carburetors.
