Description

A delightful little Italian two-seater from the late 1950s, this 1200 TV Trasformabile is carefully restored inside and out, truly representative of that fun-loving automotive era. Designed by Fabio Luigi Rapi, the elegant and sporting Trasformabile utilized many components from the popular and economical Fiat 1100 and 1200 sedan series. It was well-appointed, with a curved windscreen, roll-up side windows, a well-made canvas folding top, and a unique feature: swiveling driver and passenger seats that allowed graceful entry and exit. Its “TV”-spec engine produced approximately 60 hp and could push the jaunty two-seater to a maximum of nearly 90 mph.

First registered in 1959, this Fiat remained with its original owner until 1974. The second owner kept the car until 2012, when it was bequeathed to his nephew. Soon after, a comprehensive, $60,000 restoration began, completed in late 2016. The engine and electrical system were overhauled, the car was stripped to bare metal and resprayed in its original black, and the interior was reupholstered in black leather. Chrome trim and other brightwork were renewed as necessary, and today, it presents as one of the finest restored examples of its kind.

This mid-century convertible is supplied with a file of receipts and correspondence, shop manuals, parts catalogues, and a copy of its registration from the mid-1970s.

This Fiat 1200 TV Trasformabile offers rarity, good looks, and sprightly performance in a desirable, cosmopolitan package.
