Description

SOLD - Arguably the defining supercar of the 1980's, the Testarossa continues to be revered as an iconic piece of automotive history.

Simultaneously, it is one of those unique cars which manages in an instant, to epitomise the aspirations of a generation whose walls were adorned by its famous, and dramatic, wedge-like shape.

Whilst it is often claimed that it was revealed to the world at the Paris Salon in 1984, the Testarossa was far too conspicuous for such an ordinary outing.

Instead, rather more befitting of a car which would ultimately symbolise 80's excess, the Ferrari and its glorious rear mounted twelve cylinder with distinctive red painted camshaft covers (in honour of its name, Testarossa and a reflection of the namesakes of the 1950's) was shown off to the automotive press and select guests the night before at the Lido nightclub on the Champs-Élysées.

Our particular example, chassis number ZFFTA17B00061777, has had just two owners in the total of its 35 years since construction. The current custodian has owned the vehicle since 2005. As an early example, it is a prized Monospecchio (single mirror) variant in Rosso Corsa and contrasting crema leather interior.

It shows just 36,476 kilometres or 22,665 miles and holds A.S.I. historic status and accreditation. Automotoclub Storico Italiano (A.S.I.) is the Italian body recognised by the Italian government as the certifying body for 'vintage motorcycles and cars of historical and collectible interest'. The A.S.I. issues certificates attesting to the history and authenticity of vehicles and is a subsidary of Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens (FIVA).

The A.S.I accreditation or certificate for this vehicle was issued on the 8th of March 2006 and can be seen in the photo gallery. Evidence of all Italian Revisione or government inspections available upon request.

Export possible, anywhere in the world.
