Description

Chassis No. ZFFXR48A3V0109036

Introduced in 1995, the F355 served as Luca di Montezemolo's first stroke of genius as Chairman of Ferrari. Prior to his appointment in the early 1990s, Ferrari was in a period of decline with fading brand image and car quality. Upon his arrival at Maranello, Montezemolo immediately drove all of Ferrari's offerings and was unhappy with certain aspects of the 348. Even more disappointing than some of the vehicles he drove was that his engineers and designers were evidently satisfied with them. A life-long Ferrari employee beginning in 1973, Montezemolo was determined to revitalize both the corporate culture and product of the famous marque. The F355 was the first chapter within his now famous near 25-year Ferrari presidency.

The F355 was not a clean sheet design. Using the 348's silhouette and engineering hardpoints, Pininfarina penned a similar design incorporating the gorgeous and now famous flying buttress. The F355 would be the last of a long line of Ferraris to incorporate this famous design feature. Underneath, however, was a drastically revised and better engineered car. Boasting a 30-percent increase in chassis stiffness, increased engine displacement, and an unheard-of five-valve per cylinder engine design the F355 was superior to the 348 in every way. Offering over 100 hp per liter and one of the greatest soundtracks of all time, the F355 is now regarded as one of most usable and enjoyable of all modern Ferraris.

This wonderful F355 Spider that Broad Arrow Auctions is proud to offer was ordered new in the iconic shade of Giallo Fly (Fly Yellow) over a Nero (black) interior with the all-important gated six-speed manual transmission. Kept from new by its original California based owner for 17 years and 3,474 miles it then passed to its second and current owner. This example has been well cared for under the consignor's ownership for the past eight years with a cam belt service completed at Omega Motorsports, Inc. of Jacksonville, Florida in February 2020 at 7,817 miles.

Offered in original, unmodified condition with two keys, books, car cover, tool kit, and tonneau cover, this F355 was the star that helped turn Ferrari's fortunes around in the mid-1990s. With a 380 bhp V8 revving to 8,250 rpm paired with one of the last traditionally beautiful designs, the F355 has firmly entered classic status.

Addendum:

Please note that this car is non-California smog compliant and offered for sale to dealers and out of state buyers only
