Description

Chassis No. ZFF74UFA7H0224387

Reigning American Formula One Champion Phil Hill would never have imagined the new Ferrari 250 GTO he and Olivier Gendebien were assigned to drive by Ferrari in the 1962 Sebring 12 Hour race would become the iconic Ferrari Gran Turismo. Hill was disappointed to be driving a closed-cockpit GT-class entry, however beautiful, and both he and Gendebien did not expect much from it. Ultimately, both were proven wrong as their NART-entered, 250 GTO finished the race second overall and first in class.

The 250 GTO would quickly reach iconic status and, 55 years later, the GTO would enter a new chapter of Ferrari history as part of "70 Anni", a celebration of Ferrari's 70th anniversary. In conjunction with this platinum jubilee, 70 historic liveries were chosen and each would feature on only one model in Ferrari's formidable 2017 line up - the 488 GTB, 488 Spider, GTC4 Lusso, California T, and F12berlinetta. Designed and executed by Ferrari Design, these custom liveries were carried out by the Tailor Made department, Ferrari's personalization program.

As the most powerful road going Ferrari at its time of introduction, the F12berlinetta Gran Turismo delivered unprecedented levels of performance for a naturally aspirated 12-cylinder engine, with an available 731 hp and 509 lb-ft of torque on tap. To show the measure of the V12's grunt, Ferrari announced that a remarkable 80 percent of that torque figure was available at just 2,500 rpm as if the top speed of 211 mph was not enough. The F12's formidable power is transferred to the rear wheels though Ferrari's "F1" dual-clutch, paddle shift transmission from which Maranello claimed "instantaneous" shifts. The F12berlinetta was more than just a powerful package, the new chassis featured many aerodynamic advancements learned in Formula One including a blown rear diffuser to increase downforce along with active brake cooling. It's no surprise then that both Felipe Massa and two-time Formula One World Champion Fernando Alonso each had one as a company car.

This F12berlinetta, a 2017 "70 Anni" edition, was dubbed "The Phil." No doubt inspired by Formula One World Champion Phil Hill and his exploits in a variety of 250 GTOs over the years, it is finished in the "Extra Campionario" color combination of Blu Swaters (513/C) with a central Bianco Avus stripe. The full leather interior features Black Inchiostro leather with horizontal, ribbed Alcantara seat panel inserts, and matching blue "Extra-Range" stitching. This "Tailor Made 70 Anni" edition option added $53,239 to the list price.

In addition to the above mentioned "70 Anni" option, this F12berlinetta features options from both the online options configurator and the "Special Equipment" list. Configurator options totaling $46,031, include Apple CarPlay, silver "Alluminio" painted brake calipers, suspension lifter, carbon fiber steering wheel + LEDs, Scuderia shields, parking camera, 20" forged painted rims, and leather headliner.

Additionally, this special F12berlinetta features over $87,000 in Special Equipment with much of the interior leather components in Inchiostro "CS 20" leather, luggage compartment sides in Inchiostro leather with the compartment shelf in Black Alcantara, interior aluminum elements in Matte Argento Nürburgring, dashboard crossmember in Blu Swaters, and special threaded Cavallino headrests. All told, this incredible F12berlinetta features an amazing $186,754 in additional options and features.

Having covered less than 100 miles since it left Maranello, this stunning Ferrari F12berlinetta is in virtually new condition throughout. Representing a fantastic opportunity to own one of only 70, 70th Anniversary F12 models, this stunning "The Phil" is a wonderful tribute to both American Formula One Champion Phil Hill and the Ferrari 250 GTO.

Addendum:

On 26 July 2022 this F12berlinetta visited Ferrari of Beverly Hills for a pre-auction service. This "5th Annual Service'' consisted of an oil change, air filter replacement, drive belts, brake fluid flush, and multi point inspection to make sure this Ferrari is ready for its next caretaker.
