The 612 Scaglietti is the result of an avant-garde design that continues the great Ferrari 2+2 tradition in fabulous style. Penned by Pininfarina, the 612 Scaglietti is named in honour of Sergio Scaglietti, the legendary Modenese stylist and coachbuilder responsible for bodying some of the most beautiful Ferraris of the 1950s and 60s.

The 612 Scaglietti epitomises Ferrari’s talent for innovation and design. This thrillingly nimble, beautifully balanced sporty front-engined rear-wheel drive berlinetta offers a cabin capable of accommodating four occupants in unprecedented comfort, thanks to a host of accessories and a fantastic specification.

Masterfully styled by Pininfarina, its good looks are as innovative as the design of the 612 Scaglietti, and exude dynamism and power. The result is an imposing car, with a long sleek bonnet, strong lines and signature scooped flanks borrowed from the famous Rossellini-Bergman 37 MM. The cabin can be completely personalised to the Client’s taste, and features high-tech aluminium elements and handcrafted full-grain leather trim.

Aluminium engineering means the car is lighter and safer, with a higher torsional stiffness and damped vibration.

The 612 Scaglietti was the first ever all-aluminium Ferrari 12-cylinder to be built. The decision to use this exceptional metal was an audacious one but entirely consistent with the car’s design. In fact, the 612 Scaglietti’s light, rigid structure delivers a series of advantages in terms of weight reduction, dynamic behaviour, and occupant comfort and safety.

Both the 612 Scaglietti’s chassis and bodyshell are made from aluminium, of course. Sophisticated production and assembly technologies developed in collaboration with American company Alcoa have resulted in a significant reduction in overall car weight and exceptionally high torsional rigidity, both essential factors in delivering the blistering performance demanded of any Ferrari.

The 612 Scaglietti boasts a spaceframe chassis. In fact, its structure is made up of straight aluminium extrusions connected by casts which act as joints. Sheet aluminium reinforces the structureThe chassis architecture also includes four large castings on which all the suspension and steering mounting points are CNC machined. Questo nuovo modello è un omaggio a Sergio Scaglietti, il carrozziere modenese, ‘maestro dell’alluminio’ che ha realizzato alcune delle Ferrari più famose. Nella sigla numerica, 6 indica la cilindrata (5748 cm3 arrotondata), 12 è il numero dei cilindri del motore. La 612 Scaglietti ha ereditato dalle sue antenate quella allure raffinata e di classe e ha sviluppato un carattere sportivo che la rende adatta anche ai lunghi viaggi.

Il tratto distintivo del nuovo modello è proprio questo: il perfetto equilibrio tra dinamicità e comfort. È la 612 Scaglietti, fuori una Coupé a motore anteriore e trazione posteriore, dentro un abitacolo che offre il più ampio spazio possibile per quattro persone. Il telaio, la scocca e la carrozzeria sono interamente in alluminio, materiale che garantisce leggerezza, ma anche alte prestazioni in frenata e su strada. Alla perfezione della struttura esterna, si aggiunge un motore potente e dinamico: V12, 48 valvole, 540 CV a 7250 giri, velocità massima 320 km/h, accelerazione da 0 a 100 km/h in 4 sec.

Una scelta audace quella di ricorrere in modo integrale all’alluminio, ma coerente con il progetto. Una struttura leggera e rigida garantisce una serie di benefici in termini di riduzione dei pesi, comportamento dinamico, comfort e sicurezza per i passeggeri.
La vettura utilizza l’alluminio sia nel telaio che nella scocca. Le raffinate tecnologie di produzione e di assemblaggio, elaborate in collaborazione con la società statunitense Alcoa, hanno permesso una importante riduzione dei pesi e una elevatissima rigidità torsionale, condizioni primarie per conseguire le prestazioni desiderate.

Il telaio ha una configurazione spaceframe. Gli elementi strutturali sono, infatti, costituiti da estrusi rettilinei in alluminio uniti attraverso elementi in lega fusi in sabbia per realizzare la zona di giunzione. Le lamiere hanno funzione di rinforzo. L’architettura del telaio prevede quattro fusioni di grandi dimensioni sui corner ruota, sulle quali sono ricavati, tramite lavorazione meccanica, tutti i punti di attacco delle sospensioni e dello sterzo. Tale soluzione garantisce il dimensionamento corretto della struttura nelle zone di massima sollecitazione.
