Description
The 550 and 575M Maranello, built from 1996 to 2006, represented a return to form for Ferrari. These elegant Pininfarina-designed GTs were the first front-engine, two-seat V-12 models built since the 365 GTB/4 Daytona ceased production in 1973. While all 550 Maranellos were equipped with the traditional six-speed manual gearbox, the vast majority of 575Ms were specified with Ferrari’s new paddle-operated F1 transmission. In all, just 246 examples were ordered with the optional gated six-speed manual gearbox. Today, these rare “three-pedal” 575Ms are highly sought-after by collectors.
In its penultimate year of production, the Ferrari 575M, or Modificato, introduced a series of enhancements that would further refine this brilliant spiritual successor to the legendary Ferrari GT cars of the 1960s. Engine output was increased by 25 hp over earlier versions, and a newly available optional Handling GTC Package introduced special BBS 19" modular alloy wheels, Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, carbon fiber-reinforced ceramic Brembo disc brakes, sport-tuned suspension, and a free-flowing exhaust system. The Handling GTC Package added $23,500 to the price of a new 575M, but it transformed the performance of an already potent car.
Motor Trend magazine wrote, “…the 575M Handling GTC Package is astoundingly sure-footed and untemperamental, as long as you maintain a light touch on the wheel. A test driver named Schumacher, master of the light touch, may have had something to do with the development of the package, so this isn’t a surprise.”
The 575M offered here is presented in the classic Rosso Corsa (Racing Red) finish with optional red-stitched black leather Daytona-style upholstery, carbon fiber racing seats, carbon fiber interior trim, and fender-mounted Scuderia shields. Equipped with both the Handling GTC Package and the six-speed manual gearbox option, it is one of only a handful of such ideally outfitted 575Ms in existence. Sold new by Miller Motorcars of Greenwich, Connecticut, on June 17, 2005, the car has since remained in the care of its one-and-only owner, a prominent New York-based collector, receiving attentive care and maintenance for the last 18 years.
Records show a recent service from Ferrari of Long Island, including oil and filter change, coolant and brake fluid change, and pollen air filter replacement, which were performed within the last 400 miles. Alternator, water pump, and timing belts were replaced within the last 1,200 miles.
Iconic in its front-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration, the 575M remains the pure vision of Enzo Ferrari’s ultimate gran turismo. Benefiting from only one fastidious owner from new, this exceptionally clean and ideally specified example is offered with its original warranty book, factory literature, tool kit, service records, car cover, and CARFAX Vehicle History Report. With a gated six-speed manual gearbox, Handling GTC Package, and rarely seen factory options, this pampered 575M is a true modern classic worthy of the finest Ferrari collections.
