Ferrari 575 Maranello Superamerica model overview:
Made between 2005 and 2006 and limited to a production run of 559 cars made, this model was developed in direct response to customer feedback from the preceeding limited edition V12 open top - the 550 Barchetta. Crucially the "shower cap" of the 550 Barchetta was replaced in the 575 M Superamerica with a genuine convertible option and thus resulting in a more rounded and versatile usable open V12 GT.

The 575 M Superamerica featured the innovative Revochromico rotating hardtop. Constructed using a carbon-fibre frame integrated with electrochromic glass, it was the first roof of its kind to be fitted to a production car. When closed, the opacity of the roof could be adjusted via a dial in the cabin, turning the glass from fully transparent like a conventional sunroof to allowing in just 1% of available light. With the press of a button, the roof easily rotates back to rest flush with the boot lid, leaving the rear window to function as a wind deflector. Another major plus of this design was that as the roof rests on the rear deck, it does not obstruct luggage capacity, and the boot is more than spacious enough for a weekend getaway for two.

This innovative open top model, offering al fresco motoring with the option of the security of coupe, was clearly well received and all 559 models were sold to important Ferrari customers by the time the model had been publicly announced.
