The Ferrari F512 M was launched in 1994 as the final version of the legendary Testarossa; it ultimately proved the last flat-12-powered Ferrari produced. Numerous engine upgrades including titanium connecting rods and other lightened components were paired with a higher compression rating which helped bump the “Modificata” engine output to 440 horsepower. Capable of reaching 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds and beckoning towards a top speed of 195 mph, the F512 M’s performance figures bring it quite close to the F40.

Paired with other refinements such as an updated suspension and Bosch ABS system, this very limited model offers great handling assisted by a near 50:50 weight distribution. Of course, the F512 M’s design also sets it apart with unique taillights, distinctive three-piece alloy wheels by Speedline, and a revised front fascia which combines the striking lines of the F40 and 512 BB/LM. Just 501 examples were manufactured, making it one of the rarest roadgoing models of Luca di Montezemolo's reign.

SERIAL NUMBER 34

This Nero over tan F512 M example offered here is the 34th of just 75 US-market examples produced. Presently indicating fewer than 15,300 miles at time of cataloguing, it was delivered new to Shelton Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale, Florida on 17 August 1995. Two months later, it was purchased by its first owner, a New York resident who kept the car at his fair-weather home in Florida. This F512 M was regularly maintained by the originating dealer until sometime just before December 2004, at which point it was fitted with a replacement water pump by Ferrari of Long Island in Glen Cove, New York.

By June 2005 the car moved to Massachusetts when it was acquired by its second recorded owner, then indicating just under 12,500 miles. Documentation on file shows that authorized Ferrari technicians at Miller Motorcars in Greenwich, Connecticut were exclusively responsible for the car’s continued routine maintenance.

In late 2021, this F512 M was acquired from this previous Massachusetts owner after 16 years of careful enjoyment. Within the consignor’s care it has been treated to thorough engine-out service regimen which included a complete belt and pulley service, spark plugs, fluid flush, and new filters. The car’s original manuals and delivery literature indicate that the flat-12 engine is the numbers-matching unit. A desirable Tubi “competition” exhaust system provides an extremely pleasant improvement to the exquisite engine. Additional accoutrements include a complete tool kit with Schedoni case and tire repair foam.

The F512 M is the most potent, refined iteration of the Testarossa platform; its styling and powertrain represent the end of an era for Ferrari. With more and more technology being added to today’s supercars, analog examples have become increasingly desirable among collectors, and this rare Ferrari F512 M is no exception. To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/az22.
