1995 Ferrari F512M #1380

• 1 of 75
• #47 in the build order

Third and last among the Pininfarina designed Ferrari Testarossa series was the fantastic 512M. Ferrari built 501 512Ms in total, 75 in right hand drive, over the course of only a year from 1995 to 1996 and retailed for $220,000.

While retaining the iconic and classic shape and styling cues such as the dramatic straked air intakes on the doors of the Testarossa, the 512M received some design changes front and rear such as the pop-up headlights being replaced by square-shaped recessed lights under clear lenses.

The front bonnet was reshaped and features twin NACA ducts. Fog lights were changed from the familiar large rectangular lights to smaller round lights integrated into the snowplow nose. Likewise, the rear tail lamps changed from the familiar straked wrap around rectangular to round as the restyled rear end was cleaned up for a more refined and smoother overall look.

As with each iteration of the Testarossa, Ferrari refined the 512TR and 512M to be more comfortable, easier to drive with better handling and brakes, improved shifting position and other detail ergonomic touches such as moving the cigarette lighter for easier accessibility.

Aesthetically, the interior received minor changes such as the chromed gear shift knob, drilled aluminum pedals and air conditioning was included as a standard feature.

Under the engine bonnet, Ferrari used the tried and true 4.9 liter Tipo F113 G 12-cylinder Boxer engine mid-mounted longitudinally. The traditional Boxer engine provides a lower center of gravity and therefore better balance in the big car and was directly derived from Ferrari’s various Formula One and sports car racing activities.

However, the biggest upgrades were within the engine as Ferrari changed to new titanium connecting rods and new crankshaft which together weighed sixteen pounds less than its predecessors. The weight reduction helped as engine performance was enhanced pushing the 512M from 0 to 62MPH in 4.7 seconds and 0 to 100MPH in 10.20 seconds and a top speed of 196MPH.

This Ferrari 512M (#1380) comes to us as a one owner car in Rosso Corso over tan and only 6,000 miles. The car is one of only 75 and is complete with book, tools and records.

“At Curated, we do not acquire cars simply for inventory but rather based on what the car is. We love interesting provenance, very low production, very low mileage, very special and often weird cars.”
