Description

Chassis No. ZFF90HMB000251793

On the eve of the 86th 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ferrari unveiled the 488 Pista "Piloti Ferrari" to celebrate marque's achievement of securing both the Drivers' and Manufacturers' titles in the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship. Crafted by the company's Tailor Made division, the ultra-rare Pista variant was, as its name suggested, offered exclusively to Ferrari's Corse Clienti, or client racing drivers, and produced in very limited numbers.

The exclusive Piloti Ferrari carried forward the technical specifications of the standard Pista, centered around its twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 engine-the most powerful V8 engine in the Maranello marque's history. Paired with 198 pounds in weight savings, motorsport-derived aerodynamics, and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox that delivered even quicker shifts when in Race mode, the Pista could achieve zero-to-100 km/h in 2.85 seconds and a top speed of 337 km/h. It is estimated that fewer than 200 examples were built.

Ferrari offered the Piloti Ferrari in four distinct shades: Nero Daytona, Argento Nürburgring, Blu Tour De France, or Rosso Corsa as seen on this example. The exterior livery paid tribute to AF Corse's successful 488 GTE race car, adorned with distinctive tricolore stripes flowing along the front bumper, front lid, roof, and rear spoiler, complemented by a commemorative laurel celebrating Ferrari's 2017 WEC victories and "PRO" lettering, here rendered in Nero D.S., to indicate the racing class. The WEC connection was further reinforced by a racing number of the buyer's choice, in this case number 109, painted in Bianco Avus on both doors and on the base of the steering wheel.

While the color selection was rigid, there was certainly no shortage of optional extras supplied by the Tailor Made division, as evidenced by this spectacularly equipped example. The car's specification plaque records Rosso brake calipers, Scuderia Ferrari fender shields, titanium exhaust tips, 20-inch forged wheels in a dark finish, adaptive front lighting, and a heat-insulating windshield. Carbon fiber was specified wherever possible, including the front flaps, front air intakes, side air splitters, under-door covers, rear diffuser, rear molding, and engine bay trim.

Optioned with an equally stunning interior, occupants are greeted by yet more carbon fiber in a matte finish-extending to the instrument binnacle shroud, upper tunnel, and interior sill trim-along with Alcantara Nera upholstery with Rosso contrast stitching, black four-point harnesses, and large-size carbon fiber racing seats trimmed with Cavallino logos stitched into the headrests and perforated Alcantara backrest centers shading into a tricolore base. Further Tailor Made detailing includes a Nero leather steering wheel with multilayer Alcantara grips, a tricolore dreamline on the F1 paddles, black SuperFabric mats and overmats with tricolore-backed Alcantara inserts, gloss carbon sill plates carrying a dedication and Tailor Made logo in Bianco Avus. While the 488 Pista is clearly at home on the track, this superb example offers many welcome luxury amenities including a suspension lifter, front and rear parking cameras, Radionavi system with Bluetooth, integrated audio system, electrochromic interior and exterior mirrors, and a Navtrak security system.

Now presented in beautifully preserved condition, this rare Pista variant has covered only 3,075 kilometers at the time of cataloging. First registered in Italy on 28 January 2020, it has remained in Italian ownership since. Considered by many to be one of the finest modern Ferraris to leave the gates of Maranello, this example is made all the more desirable with its exclusive "Piloti Ferrari" specification paying homage to the victorious AF Corse WEC program. Offered only to customers actively involved in Ferrari's customer motorsport programs, this limited model is seldom publicly offered and is an unrepeatable opportunity for Ferraristi with a particular affinity for Ferrari's competition legacy.
