History

The Ferrari 488 is the successor to the Ferrari 458 Italia and Ferrari 458 Spider. The Ferrari 488 was unveiled in February 2015 at the Geneva Motor Show as a closed coupe (GTB). The open version of the 488, the Spider, followed in September 2015. The 488 GTB is the first mid-engined Ferrari after the F40 with a turbocharged engine. The engine is a 3.9-liter V8 with two Twin-Scroll IHI turbos. It is the fastest responding turbo engine in the world, with a response time of 0.8 seconds. In 2016, 2017 and 2018, the F154 engine block was named Engine of the Year. The Ferrari 488 GTB has the second generation of the Side-Slip Control system, which was introduced on the Ferrari 458 Speciale. The 488 has an extended version of that system, taking into account the dampers, brakes, limited slip differential and engine.
