The Ferrari 456M is and remains one of the finest four-seaters to roll out of Maranello. In 1998 our car was supplied from new to its first owner in Rome and is one of the few manual “Rosso Corsa” Ferrari 456M’s. The 456 was a proper Grand Tourer in almost every sense although the performance tended to be hampered somewhat by a sluggish automatic transmission. The manual on the other hand has more gears and therefore also a better gear ratio. This is the one to have. This car has retained its original and therefore matching numbers engine.

The bodywork is in fine shape. The large composite bonnet was a very advanced feature when the Ferrari 456 was introduced. The bonnet is happily also in a good condition. The car has its original wheels shod in proper sized, good quality rubber. The rims are also fully free from damage and scuff marks. The characteristic headlights work exactly as they should. The paintwork is 100% original. In other words an outstandingly cared for the exterior.

Inside this Ferrari, you will discover the condition to be no different. The first owner ordered black leather and carpets; an ageless combination with the Rosso Corsa exterior. The iconic open gated manual transmission with a metal gearstick immediately draw the eye. Changing gear is accompanied by that typical Ferrari click you will recognise if you had ever had the pleasure of being in a Ferrari. The quality of the undamaged leather is excellent. The seats are comfortable and very supportive. You have a sea of room in the back for luggage or two people. The instrument cluster and controls are all in excellent condition, emphasising the fact this car has not only been extremely well looked after but has spent most of its life in a dark garage. You won't find any “sticky buttons” in this car!

The car has enjoyed the expert attention of Ferrari dealerships and specialists when it came to service and maintenance. It has recently undergone a major service during which the distribution belts were changed. The F116C has a 5.5-litre capacity delivering 442 Ps. The combination with the manual gearbox and very low Cd value is good for top speeds of 300 km/hr and acceleration from zero to 100km/hr in just 5 seconds, still very impressive performance figures. This day it is quite normal to have 30 settings in a car. This car has a switch to stiffen the suspension and a faster throttle response. The inlet and exhaust sounds are in always sync and perfectly pitched. Engaging into first gear the feeling dawns upon you things used to be so much better. It will be no surprise that driving this Ferrari is a wholly gratifying sensation. The nice thing about driving a Ferrari is you do not have to visit a circuit and push the engine to the red line to enjoy your ride. Even cruising in traffic through town, with the fantastic V12 doing its job is a top-notch experience. You may start off just using the car on nice days to stretch its legs. You will however end up using the car more and more just because it is such a wonderful way to travel.

The car comes with a fully-loaded car wallet and a few invoices. Not only a rare colour combination but a rare beautiful car with a huge V12, delivering the kind of excitement only a V12 Ferrari can do.
