Description

The 400 was Enzo Ferrari's personal car for many years. Its luxury, comfort and versatility, combined with the ingredients that make a Ferrari exceptional - its V12 engine - make it a special car in the history of the Prancing Horse. As a car designed for long distances, the 400 automatic is easy to drive and is the ideal mount for a week's holiday, or a trip to work in vintage style.
Our example was first put on the road on 6 March 1983 in Italy and then imported by Charles Pozzi to France in 1986 and today has 28,426 reliable kilometers, with a full history mainly within the Ferrari network, complete with service books and tool kit. The car shows no signs of accident, has an up-to-date MOT and is registered in France, available at our premises in Valence. Duplicate keys, Histovec and carvertical gears available.

ENGINE AND GEARBOX
The traditional 12-cylinder V-twin engine architecture is present in the 400, with a 4 overhead camshaft and electronic fuel injection, totalling 4,823 cm3 and producing 315 bhp. Thanks to electronic fuel injection, the engine starts up without the slightest problem and stabilizes quickly; it expresses its full potential once on the road, revving up without any dip in power. The automatic gearbox is particularly useful for this car, which is not intended for sporty driving. It offers a smooth gear shift, while the torquey engine offers a wide range of uses. The car's comprehensive servicing history, partly carried out within the Ferrari network, is reassuring and means that the mechanical components show no signs of malfunction. The most recent service was carried out in July 2022 by AB-Racing, a garage specializing in Italian mechanicals, at a cost of more than 5,800 euros, and included overhaul of the K-Jetronic distributors, replacement of the injectors, overhaul of the ignition system, filters, fluids, etc.

EXTERIOR
The period at the dawn of the 80s saw square lines that broke with the brand's previous products. Gone were the traditional round headlights; the lines were modernized. Retractable headlamps became the norm. Pininfarina, Ferrari's historic styling house, was responsible for the 400's highly distinctive lines, with Leonardo Fioravanti as the main designer. The original Blu Ribot paintwork is in perfect condition, with very good depth and shine. There is no rust on the bodywork, wheel arches or underpinnings. Finally, our example also benefits from an optional vent on the wider bonnet.

INTERIOR
The comfortable crema-coloured leather seats are in very good condition, despite a few stains on the rear seats.
The instrumentation works very well, with the exception of the clock, and the black plastics have no major faults, having aged well. The carpets are also
thickness and are well preserved. At the rear of this real 4-seater, space is decent and allows two adults to travel in comfort, with even rear air conditioning! The car comes with a host of comfort features, including dual-zone air conditioning and a radio.

CONSUMABLES
The Michelin radial X tyres (size 240/55 VR 415 front and rear) are in good condition and show no signs of advanced wear, as are the brakes.
