Description
In October 1976, the Paris Motor Show marked yet another milestone in the history of Ferrari with the presentation of two new models: the 512 BB and the 400. This milestone was made all the more significant by the fact that, for the first time, an automatic gearbox was offered on a Ferrari model.
Aesthetically, the 400 differs little from the 365 GT4 2+2 it replaces: the central butterfly on the rims is replaced by five bolts, four larger lights replace the six at the rear, and a discreet lip is added to the base of the front bumper. Inside, the seats were redesigned. In 1979, the 400 adopted a K-Jetronik Bosch direct injection system in place of traditional carburetors, and added an i to its name. The automatic gearbox was a great success, with 67% of 400i production fitted.
Such is the case of the model presented here, one of 161 produced in 1982 and delivered for the first time in France by Charles Pozzi. It still retains its black number plates, notebooks and documented maintenance, as well as a rare, almost prehistoric telephone! Finally, it should be noted that it was exhibited for one year, until February 2024, at the Museo Enzo Ferrari in Modena, as indicated on the certificate supplied, that it was serviced in February 2022 and will also be delivered with its spare wheel and tool kit.
