Description

  • One of just 809 examples produced
  • US-delivered example, with factory air conditioning
  • Delivered new in distinctive Rosso Nearco over a Nero interior

The 365 GT 2+2 was the largest and most luxurious Ferrari to date. Its low-slung fastback design was created and constructed by Pininfarina, and it was the first Ferrari to be equipped with standard power steering and power brakes.

The 4.4-liter, single overhead-camshaft V-12 engine was fitted with three Weber carburettors and produced 320 horsepower. Such performance was combined with a luxurious interior, creating a most impressive grand tourer. By the time production ended in 1971, Ferrari had built only around 800 365 GT 2+2s.

This 365 GT 2+2 was manufactured in the distinctive Rosso Nearco over a Nero interior, with assembly sequence number 493 and Pininfarina body number 500/A, according to Ferrari specialist Marcel Massini.

Delivered new to William (Bill) Harrah’s US West Coast distributorship, Modern Classic Motors MCM, domiciled in Reno, Nevada, this car was sold to its first owner Alan Bayley. Little more is known about its early life, however, the car was offered in the Ferrari Market Letter in June 2006 by Exquisite Motorworks of Boca Raton, Florida.

In February 2007, this 365 GT 2+2 was shown at the Cavallino Classic in West Palm Beach, Florida, by Arthur Siegle of Oakland Park, Florida. It was subsequently sold in the 2007 RM Sotheby’s Florida auction.

This 365 GT 2+2 is offered today in its original colour scheme, along with a huge history file running to more than 350 pages. Receipts on file total in the tens of thousands of dollars, detailing the extensive servicing and maintenance this car has benefited from over the years, along with a partial tool kit and jack.

The Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 is a sporting grand tourer in the traditional sense. Presented in its stunning original configuration and with an extensive service record, this car is one to use and enjoy, rather than hide away.

Please note that an import duty of 2.5% of the purchase price is payable on this lot if the buyer is a resident of the United States.
