Perhaps no model range is more responsible for firmly thrusting Ferrari into the 21st century than the 360. Originally appearing in coupe form as the Modena in 1999, the 360 featured revolutionary all-aluminum construction undertaken in partnership with Alcoa. The 3.6-liter engine, developed from the outgoing F355 model, was constructed entirely of light alloy, employing Nicasil-treated cylinder liners and a dry-sump lubrication system.

Utilizing Bosch Motronic ME 7.3 fuel management, the engine developed 400 hp and 275 foot-pounds of torque, capable of propelling the Modena to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 183 mph. The aluminum coachwork styled by Pininfarina was a major departure from earlier designs, eschewing the classic egg-crate grille for two small radiator inlets, though it featured rear haunch scoops that recalled the 250 LM and Dino models.

At the 2000 Geneva Salon, Ferrari unveiled a spider version that required minimal structural reinforcement because of the technologically advanced design and therefore weighed only 130 pounds more than the coupe. With the electronically administered soft top retracted, the spider lent the design a particularly sleek appearance, and the open model significantly outsold the coupe variant, becoming one of the most popular Ferraris ever built.

This example is from the final year of production, and as such is one of only a handful of 360 Spiders made for the North American market. Many Ferrari customers waited to purchase the next-generation 430 later that year – some estimates suggest that this US-spec Spider is one of only 27 examples made for export to North America in 2005. A history of fastidious ownership is indicated by the included service receipts. The odometer shows under 7,500 original miles.

Painted a subtle shade of Grigio Titanio, with a hydraullicly powered black canvas top, this Ferrari has been optioned with authentic Scuderia side shields incorporated into the front fenders. The wide-mouth grilles that came standard in the Spider and Modena have been replaced with black-painted aluminum Challenge Stradale-style grilles for a tasteful appearance upgrade.

Every model of 360 came from the factory with a silver-painted aluminum center console, giving the Grigio Titanio cars an extra air of color-matched desirability. The black calfskin interior features powered Daytona-style seats with optional stitching in contrasting white thread and Ferrari’s famed “prancing horse” logo is artfully embossed in the headrests. The Spider’s leather-bound Ferrari tool kit is complete and included with the sale, as well as the owner’s manual, original window sticker, tire repair kit, and car cover.
