For the serious Ferrari collector, the specification sheet on this 2004 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale reads like an absolute wish list. At Daytona Automobil, we frequently discuss the importance of the Challenge Stradale as the founding father of Maranello’s modern track-focused bloodline. However, not all Challenge Stradales were built equally. This specific car, emerging from a prominent private collection after years of careful preservation in perfect storage conditions, represents the absolute lightest, most uncompromising specification possible for the model.

First delivered on March 23, 2004, by authorized dealer FORZA S.p.A. in Torino to a Mr. Germano, the car is finished in Rosso Scuderia. This specific shade of red is slightly lighter and warmer than traditional Rosso Corsa, famously formulated to pop on television screens during the Schumacher-era Formula 1 dominance. Over this, the car features a factory-painted racing stripe. Based on comprehensive registry data tracking over half the production run, only about 17 percent of Challenge Stradales were ordered with a confirmed factory-painted stripe. Extrapolated across the estimated 1,288 total cars built, we believe only 220 to 320 cars globally left the factory with this option.

But what truly elevates this example into the top tier of collectibility is the window glass, or rather, the lack thereof. This car was ordered from the factory with Lexan sliding windows. This motorsport-derived option saved crucial weight high up in the car, replacing the standard heavy glass and electric winding mechanisms with fixed polycarbonate and a manual sliding hatch. It is estimated that a mere 3 percent of the entire production run left the factory with Lexan windows. While there are perhaps 50 cars in the world today sporting them, many were retrofitted later in life. An authentic factory Lexan car is exceptionally difficult to find.

To complete the hardcore ethos, the original owner specified the car with radio delete and factory 4-point racing harnesses. By omitting the heavy radio unit, speakers, and standard seatbelts in favor of the track harnesses and Lexan windows, this represents the absolute lightest configuration achievable.

Beyond its extreme specification, the condition and originality of the car are outstanding. Challenge Stradale interiors are famous for their extensive use of Alcantara, a material that is notoriously prone to fading, pilling, and deteriorating over two decades of use and sun exposure. Thanks to years of careful storage in a collection, the red and black Alcantara in this cockpit has survived beautifully and presents in excellent condition. Furthermore, the car remains highly original mechanically, retaining its original factory exhaust system, a component that was frequently removed or modified on other examples.

The service provenance is equally uncompromised. Since new, the car has remained in Europe and has been maintained exclusively by official Ferrari main dealers, with the most recent service recorded at 31,555 indicated kilometers. Adding a wonderful piece of motorsport history, the original service booklet features the signature of Gianmaria "Gimmi" Bruni, one of Ferrari's most decorated and successful modern GT factory racing drivers.
