Description
Chassis No. ZFFYT53A430131367
Determined to redefine its lineup for a new era, Ferrari approached the development of the 360 with a clean slate, reimagining both design and engineering at the turn of the millennium. Gone were the pop-up headlights and signature side strakes of earlier models, replaced by a sleek, aerodynamic form that generated up to four times more downforce than the outgoing F355. Built entirely from aluminum-a first for a Ferrari road car-the 360 benefited from a 28-percent reduction in weight and an incredible 40-percent increase in chassis rigidity.
The 360 Modena coupe debuted at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show, with the 360 Spider following in 2000. Visible under the glass rear decklid was a heavily revised 3.6-liter Tipo F131 V8 producing 400 horsepower, now paired with a more sophisticated version of the F1 paddle-shift transmission with improved rev-matching capabilities. The 360 set the precedent for Ferrari models to come, with Ferrari themselves labeling it "the best Spider ever built at Maranello pre-2000 in terms of its technical content, styling and performance."
Completed in December 2002 and first delivered to Ferrari of Seattle in April 2003, this Ferrari 360 Spider, finished in classic Rosso Corsa, was equipped from the factory with nearly $12,000 in optional extras. The exterior features red-finished Brembo brake calipers, "Scuderia Ferrari" fender shields, front "Challenge Style" grilles, rear Challenge grid, and the rare selection of BBS modular wheels. The interior, upholstered in Beige leather, is optioned with electrically operated Beige leather Daytona-style seats, a six-disc CD changer, and roll bar upholstery. The clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report reveals the Spider was sold shortly after delivery to a Florida-based owner and landed with its first long-term owner based in South Carolina by 2006. Over the next 13 years, this owner placed approximately 10,000 enjoyable miles on the Spider.
In 2019 it was acquired by the current owner, a highly regarded vintage automobile collector and historic racer also based in The Palmetto State. Shortly after acquisition, the car was delivered for an independent service totaling just over $10,000 that included an F1 system fluid flush, fresh transmission fluid and filter, as well as a cooling system and brake fluid flush. Due to a small leak, the steering rack was rebuilt with new power steering fluid. Furthermore, the engine received an oil change, replacement timing belts, tensioners, tensioner bearings, and accessory belt replacement, fresh valve cover gaskets, end cap gaskets, four camshaft seals, eight new spark plugs, and replacement of both engine mounts and upper transmission mount. A few months later, replacement of all four fuel rollover valves was completed.
Today, this well-optioned 360 Spider features just 24,732 miles and remains a beautifully preserved example with PPF treatment to the front end and mirrors. Recent paint meter readings reveal the Spider retains its original Rosso Corsa finish and is an ideal entry point into mid-engine Ferrari ownership. Included in the sale are its original window sticker, service receipts under current ownership, battery charger, toolkit, as well as its leather folio of factory manuals.
