Erede della 328 GTB, era in realtà una vettura completamente nuova che offriva soluzioni inedite al tema della berlinetta due posti con motore V8 in posizione centrale. La carrozzeria alternava motivi stilistici tipici della Testarossa, presenti sulle fiancate, con quelli d’alcuni modelli classici del passato, come il frontale che ricordava quello della 375 MM

Versione spider con tettuccio rigido della 348 TB, era dotata dello stesso gruppo motopropulsore che le forniva prestazioni uguali a quelle della “berlinetta”. Il disegno della carrozzeria era, anche in questo caso, di Pininfarina. Le notevoli doti dinamiche delle due versioni si esprimevano molto bene nell’utilizzo su pista: fu pertanto istituito nel 1993 un Challenge dedicato a queste vetture.

Una nuova interpretazione della berlinetta con motore V8 disposto in posizione posteriore centrale, a differenza della vettura precedente che aveva il motore longitudinale con cambio trasversale a 5 velocità più la retromarcia. L’approccio stilistico della Ferrari 348 si ispira chiaramente alla Testarossa . Si vede dalle fiancate e dallo specchio di coda, con la griglia di copertura dei gruppi ottici posteriori. Sono passati 30 anni dalla sua creazione e questa Ferrari è ancora molto affascinante, anche grazie al suo design firmato Pininfarina.

Inizialmente il motore erogava 300 cavalli, sembra poco oggi, ma all’epoca non lo era di certo, la velocità massima della Ferrari 348 era di 275 km/h, con uno scatto da 0 a 100 km/h in 5.6 secondi. La sigla numerica scelta per questa vettura del Cavallino Rampante sta per 3.4 litri e 8 cilindri, una delle sue caratteristiche più innovative era il telaio semi-monoscocca ad alta resistenza torsionale, fu la prima Rossa di Maranello prodotta in serie senza la precedente tipologia di chassis.

Heir to the 328 GTB, the 348 TB was actually a completely new car, which offered a new interpretation of the two-seater mid-engined V8 berlinetta. The body combined styling cues from the Testarossa – along the flanks – with ones from classic models of the past (such as the front-end treatment, reminiscent of the 375 MM).

The convertible version of the 348 TB, with a removable hard top, was powered by the same drive-train as the berlinetta version, giving it equivalent performance. The body was again styled by Pininfarina. The impressive dynamic characteristics of both versions were so ideally suited to the race track that in 1993 a Challenge was established especially for these cars.

A new interpretation of the berlinetta with V8 engine placed in the rear central position, unlike the previous car which had the longitudinal engine with 5-speed transverse gear plus the reverse gear. The stylistic approach of the Ferrari 348 is clearly inspired by the Testarossa. It can be seen from the sides and from the tail mirror, with the cover grid of the rear lights. 30 years have passed since its creation and this Ferrari is still very fascinating, also thanks to its Pininfarina design.
