Unveiled at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show, Ferrari’s highly refined new 330 GTC was a svelte, high-speed coupe with luxurious, spacious, and elegantly trimmed passenger accommodations to match. Pininfarina designed and built the subtle, elegant bodywork to exceptional standards with sleek frontal styling inspired by the 500 Superfast and a neat rear treatment reminiscent of the 275 GTS. Powering the 330 GTC was Ferrari’s Tipo 209 Colombo-derived, four-liter V-12 engine equipped with a single overhead camshaft per cylinder bank and three twin-choke Weber carburetors, factory-rated at 300 hp. Sharing its basic chassis, four-wheel independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, and rear five-speed transaxle with the 275 GTB, the 330 GTC delivered outstanding speed and handling, ideal for fast transcontinental touring. Only 600 examples of the 330 GTC were produced through 1968, when it was replaced by the larger-displacement yet fundamentally unchanged 365 GTC.

According to a report by Ferrari historian Marcel Massini, this example, chassis 11205, was originally finished in the rare color of Blu Acapulco, a medium metallic blue color, over a Black interior and delivered to Italy. Like many Ferraris of the era, it was then sold to the US in the early 1970s. By 1975 it was owned by F.A. Borman of Brooklyn, Connecticut and in 1985 it was offered for sale by David M. Castelhano of Cos Cob, Connecticut. In 1991 it was offered by Wide World of Cars in Spring Valley, New York and described as a restored car in Gray over a Black interior.

In 2002, the current California-based collector acquired the 330 and had Symbolic Motor Cars strip the car to bare metal, perform metal work to remove some corrosion, and repaint the car in Blu Ultra Scuro, a very dark blue color. Its interior was reupholstered in Connolly leather in a warm brown color, its Borrani wire wheels were redone, and in addition, mechanical work was performed, overseen by noted Ferrari specialist Bill Attaway, who was working at Symbolic Motor Cars at the time. Since then, it has been enjoyed, including a successful tour on the 2014 Copperstate 1000. The consignor notes in his ownership the car has received attention to the suspension, brakes, and electrical systems. This 330 GTC is a driver-quality example that has not been fully restored and has only been used sparingly in recent times. The Ferrari is accompanied by service records as well as a manual and parts catalogue. The 330 GTC’s brake master cylinder and booster are currently being rebuilt by GT Car Parts of Phoenix, Arizona. They will be re-installed on the car at the consignor’s expense prior to delivery to the new owner.

Hailed as one of the most usable and best all-around Ferraris, the 330 GTC is a model that is perfect for the collector that also loves an enthusiastic drive. ¬
