Ferrari launched the 328 GTB and GTS alongside a renewed Mondial at the 1985 Frankfurt Auto Show. Both models shared a derivative of the Dino engine that had powered numerous Prancing Horses since the 1950s, albeit in V-8 form and with a 3.2-litre cubic capacity. With a retail price beginning at around €55,000, the 328 (and its Mondial sister model) expanded the Italian marque’s mid-1980s product line-up beyond the much lauded—yet more expensive—288 GTO, 400 series, and Testarossa.

Production of the 328 lasted until 1989. The example here was a late-production model, noted as being completed by the factory on 14 July 1989. While its early history is not documented, the Ferrari is known to have previously been registered in Japan, before returning to Europe in April 2016 when it was registered by its consigning owner in France. In April 2019, the 328 GTS received €37,305-worth of work at the Parisian Ferrari dealer, Charles Pozzi. In March 2023, the Ferrari was subject to a €4,561 service at Beaumont Automobile, Paris, in which the timing belts were changed. The invoices can be viewed within the car’s history file.
